Anne of Green Gables

Have you ever seen that movie? Or the sequels?!

Somehow through all the craziness of school, at times I should have been blogging, and other times when I should have been sleeping... I managed to watch Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. I am currently (at this second) watching Anne of Green Gables The Continuing Story.

I LOVE these movies! They are like a dream. My sister is the one who got me stuck on them and I'm so glad she did!!

I often feel as if I've been sucked into the movie, setting there next to Anne and Gil while she breaks her slate over his head.

It is just a delightful, moving story. There are so many good quotes in these movies and I didn't even write them down... but I know they are there!

I found myself dreaming of living in those times and in Avonlea. It seems  so care free and perfect. Although, I know no one's life is perfect or care free... watching these movies pulled a lot of stress off of my shoulders!

In Anne of Avonlea, Anne goes to a college, Kingsport College, to be their English Professor. The principle at this college, Katherine, is mean, crude, and not willing to get along with anyone. The way that Anne handled Katherine's rude remarks and horrible attitude gave me a new outlook on how to treat people that want nothing to do with nice people that have a 'kindred spirit'! I will no longer be poisoned by other people's bitterness- just as Anne said.

I recommend these movies to anyone that loves a good laugh, love stories, and poetry. Her words will capture you as well, I'm sure of it!

"Tomorrow is always fresh.....there are no mistakes in it."

"Life's to short to hold grudges."

"God knows best."

Fail.

1. I managed to fall off one of my horses for the first time in... at least 2 years. Maybe even 3. I fell off of SoBe. Yes, SOBE. The sweetest, kindest, I-can-put-anyone-on-her horse. Thanks to Lola, I messed up my 2 year streak.

2. I twisted my ankle (see #1)

3. I managed to get this....

Awesome, huh? Oh, you ask how it happened?  One word. Horse. Ok, three words. Trimming a horse.
Oh, you ask which one? How can you not guess! Sassy. Her name says it ALL.

4. I almost missed my first pediatric clinical. I was 2 hours late. Whoops! Thankfully, my classmates told my instructor that I had never been late to anything and that it was so not like me to miss a clinical. It truly has never happened... and it will never happen again!

5. I ate spaghetti last night. Yum.

Hopefully this upcoming week will be much better!! I have a test tomorrow that I have been studying for and after that I will be free for the weekend and keeping some sweet puppies for people in town!

I have a couple of VERY busy weeks coming up. 2 Clinical days between 3 days of class... 2 weeks in a row, with a test each week. All around my birthday too :(  Oh well! Hopefully I'll be able to try to find time to blog!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Growing like a Weed

Latch is growing up fast!!

He has gained 13.5 lbs since I found him a month and one week ago.

He had Sarcoptic mange when I found him. Thankfully my other dogs didn't get it! Even better... I didn't get it! People can get that stuff you know...
Latch has already gotten 1 shot of Ivermec to treat it and he was so much better! He got his second today... hopefully that will knock it right out!

The vet said he is going to be one big dog. That I already knew. It's a good thing cause I LOVE big dogs! :)
Please, no one ever give me a dog that weighs less than 30 lbs.
I prefer 60+ lbs.
I know I'm not supposed to share a woman's weight with the world, but Lola is 40 lbs. She passes the 'big' dog test by the skin of stumpy tail!

My dream is to have a Harlequin Great Dane. Sigh.

Daddy

That's my daddy.
The one that use to spank me. haha! "Go to the bathroom and wait on me" was a sentence I heard many times in my life! I would often try to stuff rags in my pants... I think he made us take them out.  :)
He also use to play Monster with us. He would go hide in our dark house and all of my siblings and I would go around tip-toeing... waiting for him to pop out and go "RAAAHHHGGGHHHH"  and we would all scream and beg him to let us hide with him next!
He would jump on the trampoline with us and play vacuum cleaner and many more games. He would roll around and we would have to jump over him... but sometimes you just couldn't jump fast enough and he would gobble you up! Oh and we played Wake up and Smell the Coffee! That was a fun one too!
I don't know how many times I went dove hunting with him... but I always loved it. I was his retriever and I loved finding a dove that was shot in the wing. That meant I got to play with him for the rest of the time!
One of my favorite memories of going anywhere with my dad was our yearly trip to Daytona. He would get out in the ocean with us and take us waaaay out to the big waves and help us boogie board on a big wave to the beach! At night, he took us to ride go carts... man did we get competitive! It was so much fun. As we got older, he taught us how to 'body surf' the waves. We all looked forward to going to Daytona because our parents made it so much fun!

Besides giving me a lot of memories as a child, my dad (and mom) have helped me in so many more ways! They have gotten me through school, Auburn, Nursing school... I don't think I will ever be able to repay them for the wonderful life they have provided for me. I am so very thankful for everything he has ever given me!

He loves a good peach & homemade peach ice cream.

He's an awesome granddaddy! He goes by GT.

He loves a good game of wiffle ball.

And he likes to play golf. or putt putt!

He and my brother, Hank, are just alike.

and he raised a dang good family!

Thanks for everything, dad! You are very loved and appreciated! I love you, dad!!

Trade Day, Sprinklers... Amen!

Josh and I took a trip to North Alabama a couple of weekends ago to visit my sister! I haven't been up there since I graduated from Auburn and I had a three day weekend off of school so we packed the car and headed out!

Josh has never been to Linsey and Ben's house so he was pretty excited about it.

We got up there and hung out with Linsey & Ben, checked out their chicken coop (which is amazing... she should do a post on it! hint hint, linsey! Now that it's clean!), we made/watched supper be made, and felt the baby moving around in Lin's tummy.

I always have fun when I go up to Linsey's house. It's a whole different world up there and it's just so interesting!

Funny story about the first night!   We were all sitting in the den with dinner in our laps getting ready to eat yummy chicken burritos that Lin had made! Ben said he would say the blessing and started doing just that... not even 10 seconds into the blessing Ben is praying, blessing the food and time with family and Josh says "Amen brother!" and throws his hat back on his head! Linsey and I died into laughter... we had not heard an Amen and Ben had not said Amen. Ben shook his head and said with a smirk on his face "I'm not done yet, stupid!" I think Josh turned 12 shades of red as he tried to keep from laughing! Needless to say that was a laughter filled prayer! It was quite funny!

Linsey lives around a bunch of different small towns and one of those has a drive in. We were going to go to... but it was closed due to the tornado damage :(

I can not even begin to explain how bad the damage is up there. I can't imagine what it is like in Tuscaloosa. It really takes seeing it with your own eyes to put it into perspective.

Saturday we all woke up early and went to Trade Day!

This place is the real interesting part. It's a big place with rows of junk where rednecks gather. :)

It really is fun though!

Need a sign so your puppy won't get run over?
They got 'em.

Kids loving this Lilac Crested Amazon

Baby Ducky!
Notice the trucks parked in the back... they all have some sort of animals.
Goats, llamas, hunting dogs, stray dogs, puppy dogs, lots of dogs...

Quail

Bunnies

Chicks

Good looking men..
Oh wait... that's Josh! ;)

It was so hot that day... luckily they had some shaved ice!
Yum! I got Mango with Creme!
They loaded me up with some Creme... definitely worth the extra $0.25!

Sometimes you can actually find a pretty decent deal at trade day....
For instance.. Ben here got a Dewalt bag and a Sawzall for $10.00
Linsey... she got some peaches, a baby, and shaved ice! ;)
Please note that the Sawzall had a battery on it. (Maybe worth $30?)
Well, Ben wanted to take the gears out of the $10 sawzall and fix his own sawzall.
He ended up fixing the $10 sawzall and it worked perfectly.
You can't get a better deal than that!
Ben carried that thing around like a baby all afternoon on Sunday.
It even got to have sprinkler time with us.

Me and Josh at Trade Day

Sprinkler time.
Mmm hmm. You heard it.
It's like pre-school all over! Reading time... Sprinkler time... same difference!

We set up a sprinkler in the back yard, we all got a lawn chair, we all sat around the sprinkler and let it hit our feet. That is what you call a redneck sunday afternoon! haha
It was fun though! Good visiting time and dog playing time.
I wish I would have gotten pictures of their dog Remy playing... and all of us at sprinkler time.

After sprinkler time, it was time to go home. We had a great weekend and we both can't wait to go back! I think Josh had a great time hanging out with Ben and looking at all his cows while me and Linsey did girly things inside the house!
I don't like saying goodbye, but I got to see Linsey this past weekend at her baby shower, so that was a plus!

It sure was weird saying goodbye to Linsey... next time I see her she's going to have a baby girl!! And I will be Aunt Mo x2.

James, Friday, and Buster Brown

At 7:18 am I received a phone call, "I'm about to head out in about 5 minutes, all I need to do is hook my horse up. See you in a bit". I rolled out of bed and threw on my boots.

Flint and I headed out at about 8 to meet James.

James Newton is a 70 year old man that has come to middle Georgia with his horse, Friday, and buggy... from texas.

He has been over 3000 miles with this horse and countless cities and towns. His story is one of the most interesting stories I have ever heard.

Now, don't you start worrying about Friday... she is very well taken care of! She actually is kind of fat!! He gets her feet done often (they look better than Flint's feet!) and she gets loving attention 24/7. She actually only likes this man and not many others. She likes me alright, but not much. James told me that I was the first person that she hass actually allowed to pet her in a good while. He was pretty amazed.

He also has a little dog that has been with him the entire way, Buster Brown. He scratched Flint's poor nose, but Flint is ok!

So How did I get this adventure?!
I met James on Friday night after I found out that my boss's husband (from the pottery place) invited him to stay on their farm when he saw him going through town Friday at lunch. Josh and I went over to meet him and talked to him for an hour. He told us that he planned on going to Perry to stay at an RV park (the RV park that my dad just happens to own!). I told him that my family owned that park and after a few more minutes after finding out that I lived towards Perry and that I have horses myself... he then invited me to ride along with him. I was ecstatic! I told Josh that even if he didn't remember to call me on Sunday morning that I was going to saddle up my horse and go find him anyways!

Well, I got the call, got on my horse and rode about 3 hours with James. It was so much fun! We talked about Friday and his journey and where he will go next. I told him he should go to Helen, GA and that is now on his trip plans!

We got him settled at the RV park and I went to get Friday some hay. I got her a couple buckets full (off of a round bale) and ended up just taking the whole round bale over there earlier this evening! He was so happy and thankful. They will be around for 2 days. I will be taking him to get some new horse shoes, a bag of feed, and to the post office tomorrow.

Hopefully this sweet, old man will be back through GA in the future!

And Flint made the ride to Perry! I'm so proud of my boy!

3 Years

3 years ago I met this boy at the vets office that I was working for in the summertime when I was home from Auburn...
Taken in July of 08
By the way, doesn't Josh look so young!! I think I look the same.. haha

Sept 08
His first Auburn game! :)

Now, I don't know where I would be without this guy in my life!

Taken June '11
At Trade Day the weekend we visited my sister and brother in law!!

He has gotten me through my first time of putting one of my horses down, he stuck with me while I was a hormonal wreck during my last semester at Auburn when I just wanted to be at home, he has continually been right there if I ever needed anything, and he has given me flowers on HIS birthday! I won't ever forget that!! haha

He's pretty amazing and because of that we're pretty amazing.  I have never gotten along with anyone as well as I get along with him.

I honestly can't wait for the next 3 years because they will bring about some big changes that I have been dreaming about for years! :)

I won't brag about how much I love him because you can read that on this post! :)

Josh, Thank you for everything you do for me and for everything you have given me over the past three years, including the love that has never ceased! I love you sweet Joshua!!

Photos from this week!

Excuse the poor quality... They are from Josh's cell phone!

Is he not adorable?
He's growing like a weed.
He has man paws.
His legs are like stilts.
He gets so excited when he sees me... that he empties his whole bladder!
Thanks Latch. What a great gift! :)

This is me and my little Matilda!
One day... she is going to be a fabulous show pig.
For now, she is my fabulous pet pig.
She never squeals when you hold her.
She's mine. Sort of ;)
Hopefully she'll be Josh's good friends pig instead of some random kid I don't know. Then I'll be able to visit her whenever I want!

This was Matilda exactly 1 month ago... She was so little!!

This was Matilda in April. She was itsy bitsy!
Her wittle ears were still floppy and everything!

My babies!
Lola and Latch.
And I didn't even mean to name them with "L's".
They are the best puppies in the whole world.
Except when Lola got in the trash today.
She got a whooping, but not from me!
From Grandma Jan.
I wondered why she was all happy X10 to see me today when I got home. Baaad dog.

I'm going to see my sister this weekend!!!!!! SO excited! Sadly, it's been a while since I went to her house in North Alabama. I always have fun when I go up there and I'm so excited that Josh gets to experience small town mountain life! I'm glad I have the chance to get up there! I just wish it was cooler! And I get to see her next weekend too!! Double whammy! :)
