Vet update

Flint and I went to the vet this afternoon and got an update!

I wish I would have taken more pictures... actually videos... because it took me and Mrs Nicole an hour and a half to get him in the trailer! It was absolutely ridiculous!

Then,  after we shoved him in to the trailer (literally), we got to the vet and had to shove him into the stocks! He was scared out of his mind poor thing!

I never would have thought while I was scrubbing those floors/stocks and raking that gravel that my sweet boy would end up in those stocks! I worked at this veterinarians office for over 2 years! The first few minutes I was in there I started sweating, I told the vet 'This room must trigger my sweat glands'! I worked so hard for that place.. but I loved it!:)

They decided that the abscess was cause by a puncture wound from a wolf tooth! They pulled one wolf tooth and squeezed a bunch of nasty, pus fluid out of the abscess...

After 2 prescriptions for antibiotics we were headed out of there!

Well, to get him on the trailer to leave... I rode him in and guess what! It worked!!

We got home, I washed his mouth out again... fixed his feed with antibiotics in it and gave it to him. He took a taste of it and spit it out. He looked at me like, are you serious right now! Take this disgusting food away from me and give me something that actually tastes good!

Hopefully it will be cleared up ASAP.

I didn't want to say this in my last post... but I have told myself the past 3 years that if somethings happens I'm not going to delay in getting the vet out.

That is my biggest regret with Scout. I saw that spot on his rear and thought it was just a wound... I watched it and treated it like a wound and then it turned out to be cancer cause it never went away and now I will never have my precious Scout back.

But, Flint is going to be just fine! I'm so thankful for that.

Good news first?!

Good news: I don't think it will be permanent...

Bad news: my precious, beloved, handsome Flint has an abscess in his mouth  :(

I knew it the second I laid my hands on him. I always walk up to him and hold both sides of his face and give him a kiss on the nose. He tossed his head and said 'ow mama!!'

He finally let me get a look at it...

dang wolf tooth.

It's growing outward... instead of downward (like teeth are SUPPOSED to grow!) and it's causing a mass-like swelling in his cheek.

Well, I say it's a tooth (I really hoping it's the tooth). I'm not 100% positive that it is the tooth causing the problem.

Then I went back to the house and got my camera...

I'm sure he's thinking... 'oh great, here she comes again to poke around in my mouth'

'I'm just going to ignore her... maybe she will disappear!

'dang it... not working'

Swelling :(
and if you aren't a horsey person... you probably don't notice a difference, but I do!!

dump abscess....

alright non horse people...
That bulge looking thing in that blue circle... is not supposed to be there!

My poor baby is hurt and I don't like it!!!

Vet in the AM to get it pulled/get an exam to know what really is going on!

VERY thankful for my dad!! He helps me out sometimes with these costly creatures. Mine get hurt rarely, but when they do and I can't fix it myself... it's so stressful!!

And big thanks to my riding buddy Lexie and her mom Mrs Nicole for letting me use their trailer!!!

Prayers for my pretty boy please!

Y'all... I think I'm MIA

April must not be my month for blogging!

I just haven't been on the blog train all that much recently... and I have tried to do a few updates.. but only 5 updates in April is horrible!! I think school needs to jump off my back and let me have a little free time!! (That won't happen anytime soon... FYI.  I don't think I get a real break until...December! I think I may cry until then.)

I actually have had some free time... hee hee.

But, I've been spending it doing this....
Riding with multiple friends, above is Jacyln.

and with him...
.....  :)

and I even did this!
Do you SEE what my life has come down to!! I have to study everywhere I go...
But, I must say... I did VERY well on that Med Surge test. :)  I think I should start riding and studying more often... haha!

Now, I shall get back to studying for Pharmacology. Yuck.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I told Flint he was my old man... then he head butted me.

Then I gave him as many carrots as he wanted and he licked my toes.

Happy 11th Birthday, pretty boy!

Peaches and barns.

I live in the land of peaches.

These pictures don't do the trees justice... the blooms had already sort of started falling off (I waited too late!).

Oh well. Enjoy!

Sometimes I even talk Josh into going to old barns with me! He gets to carry lens and stuff. When I get my fancy smancy bag... he won't have to do that!  :)

South Africans shouldn't be allowed to drive in the United States.

At approximately 7:04 PM on Sunday, April 10th, Josh and I almost had a head on collision with a Ford Escape looking thing.

We were waiting patiently in the 'suicidal lane' to turn left across 2 lanes of traffic to get to the gas station. My car only had 12 miles until empty and we were so glad we made it to a gas station.

Imagine us sitting there... We're singing and minding our own business. You see, traffic was bad. Traffic was real bad. No cars were moving, so we were just chilling. We had just left The Masters, along with everyone else, and were ready to get some gas and head for home!

Well, this Ford Escape looking thing swerves out of the traffic that is oncoming that we are oh so patiently waiting for to move... the Ford Escape looking thing then proceeds to come at us with an unknown speed that looked really fast!
All of a sudden about 10 feet in front of use they SLAM on brakes and jut back into the traffic they just came out of (the traffic that isn't moving). I really don't know how that managed to do it... Now they are sideways in the road, about 4 inches from the side of this car. That car moves and there is a suburban in the next lane. Well suburban dude moves up to where they can't get across (I don't blame him! He just totally cut everyone off!). The 4 men in the Ford Escape looking thing start throwing hands and saying words and then laughed. About 10 minutes goes by. Dude number 2 gets out of the Ford Escape looking thing and proceeds to knock on Suburban dudes window.

Josh let his window down.

It took all of about two seconds to hear that accent and know that none of them were from the United States! Suburban dude told them he didn't care that they weren't getting by him. Then they all started yelling in another language!! Well, out of no where all these words come out of my mouth along the lines of "They aren't even from here!! They don't even know how to drive!!" Plus a lot more that I can't remember... Suburban dude agreed with me and let his window up in the guys face. Then Josh had to hold me back from getting out and telling these guys that they need to go back to South Africa before they kill someone.

That was the interesting story of the day. The reason they were trying to kill everyone to get into the gas station? To go drink beer in the parking lot with their buddies. Fancy that.

So! Rewinding to 4:45 AM of this same day.... Josh and I left to go to the  Masters!! We had a great time. I love going to the Masters with Josh. So much fun! :)

We arrived there about 7:45 and got inside by 8:15. All the spots on hole 18 were taken and that's where we like to put our chairs to come back to at the end of the day, so we were bummed. We were walking around like lost puppy dogs when a security guard walks up and says "1 more chair can fit right there." I said Dang... we have 2! This guy literally pushes past us to get it, then the security guard so kindly says "oh well actually 2 can fit there!" Enter: Guy number 2 pushing through like a murderer is chasing him! (I thought there was to be no running, pushing, shoving at the Masters!) Dang it!!!

We settled for hole 9 second row seats. All was fine and dandy and we were happy with that. We ended up sitting by some guys that grew up around our town and they were quite surprised to know that we were from there! So it was good talking to them.

After lunch and walking 20 miles (ok maybe 2), we sat back down on hole 9 until McIlroy was about to come through. Then we quickly walked to 18 right behind us. We were standing at 18 for maybe 5 minutes and then all of a sudden it was like a wave crashing in behind us! You could just feel all the people piling up behind you.... you look over your shoulder and it was like 'well, guess I'm not going anywhere for a while!'

We stood on 18 for the last 3 hours of the tournament and saw all the players finish their last round.

We were on the first row of people standing behind the people seated, so it wasn't that bad after all! We were also standing next to a guy from London who was super awesome and gave us his 5 Masters cups from the day after someone stole ours off our chairs (how classy).

We got to see Phil! I love phil. :)

As we stood there, McIlroy just kept bombing the course and slipping under all the other leaders and then it happened..... Charl schwartzel came out of no where and won the tournament.

This is where I must tell you that my father had said the day before "I don't know who Schwartzel is, but I'm gonna pick him to win since Freddy isn't getting it done". Schwartzel wasn't doing really awesome when dad said that and I'll be darned if he didn't do awesome on round 4 and win the thing. So that was pretty cool!! Too bad dad isn't a betting man!

Over all we had a great day! The food was good, we managed to not get hit by any South Africans in rental cars, and we got home before midnight.

Can't wait to do it again next year!!

Spring Break Recap

Sorry I've been MIA! I had 2 tests this week that I have been studying my little fanny off for!

I must say, it all paid off. I ended up with an 88 and a 92! :)

So, why don't we get on to what I did over spring break!?

My oldest sister, Ashlee, and my niece, Blair, loaded up the car and started on a long haul to Boca Grande, Fl. My grandfather lives down there on the water and we thought we'd go visit.

Ashlee and Blair has some Dr's appointments scheduled for the middle of the week, so we went for the weekend to spend some time with Pop!

The ride down was loooong. It always is though. It took us about 8 hours to get down there with little miss Blair having to go potty multiple times, but all we had was time!

We got to Boca Grande and ate dinner with Pop and looked at the super moon! If you didn't see it, this is what it looked like.

Then the next morning I woke up and my best friends were there! Manatees!!
There are three in this picture... but only one surfaced. I never successfully got them up to the dock. how sad. I have mentioned this in previous posts.... they were more interested in making babies than visiting with me.

This is such a typical Boca Grande Picture.
Florida dressed man, painting in the street! Gotta love it.

After we ate breakfast and chatted, we decided we would go to the beach and look for shells!
This beach is nothing short of gorgeous.

Pop and blair looking for shells!

"Hold mama's hand"

She learned this phrase very well on this trip! There were some pretty scary stairs in Pops house for a two and a half year old. So, she would not even go close to those stairs unless she was holding her mama's hand! It was so cute watching her etch along the wall opposite the stairs until she was past them!

Gorgeous houses down there. I took this for Ash.

We learned from pop that these 'tortoises' are endangered. They are Gopher tortoises, and Josh swears on his grave that it's the GA reptile. I'll have to look that up! But, they are endangered! Pop said there was two living right near where we went to the beach and they won't let anyone build houses on those lots! One guy started growing palm trees and irrigated it. Good way to make some money on a Tortoise lot! Sadly, one of the two tortoises had died. He was upside down :(
This guy was down the road a bit when we were leaving. They are interesting!

These little old men were so cute! They were having a boat race in the bayou later that afternoon. Ash and I were sitting on the porch doing some homework while Blair napped and we saw them all coming out there. They had a recording that counted down and everything! Even had a fake gunshot!

pop said that this was a young osprey that has been hanging around the past couple of weeks. He was so pretty! I think he's trying to get a girlfriend!

The second day in Boca Grande we went to the beach to play around with Blair. This particular part of the beach that we went to has mostly turned into a dog beach! It was neat seeing all the different dogs!

Blair was having a fun time!
I call this her celebrity photo.

This child loves to swing. Thank goodness Boca Grande has a swing!

Another manatee!! And... my lame attempt to get it to come over to the dock by squirting yummy, fresh, salt free water into the bayou. No luck.
I also think that this manatee was '4-scar'. You may can tell if you click and look closer, but she has 4 scars down her back from a boat propeller. She is veerrryyy old (if it is her)! Atleast my age... I have known Pop to talk about her as long as I have been alive. Most manatees can live to be 60 or older. She always brings her babies to pop's dock to get some water, but again... too interested in wanted to have a baby I guess! I was surprised she didn't come over! She's pretty tame. Which is why she probably has those scars on her back.

After an afternoon of shopping around Boca Grande and swinging we headed back to Pop's to get ready to leave the next morning.
Blair and Ash had their doctor's appointments in Tampa on Wednesday and my old roommate/one of my best friends just happens to live in Tampa and work on a racehorse farm.
Ash dropped me off with her and we headed to the barn!

They have about 26 horses there right now. Most of them are retired but there are a couple of 3 year olds that are about to go into training.

This guy was huge. His name is Key Haven. He was such a sweet baby! He may be going to Colorado! Far far away! You better grow you a good fluffy coat! :)

This is Beautiful. She's forsale! She has been off the track for about a year now. I got to take her over some jumps after I took a video of Rhiana riding her.

Rhiana and Beautiful jumping

Me and Beautiful Jumping

I also got to ride another horse named Rubdown for a bit. All these horses are a completely different ride from my laid back, lazy horses. I must say, a lazy ride is a good one, but I had fun riding these guys too!

I loved getting to visit pop/ lida lee, Rhiana, Pam (Barn owner) and Rhiana's parents over the break. I got some yummy florida oranges!

Hopefully I'll get to go back before I graduate and get a job! It's a lot of fun in Boca Grande and at the farm!
